Meet the Team

Kristen Nadel created The Freebird Foundation after gaining a passion to help those with missing loved ones. Her father, Mel Nadel, went missing in 2009 on a hunting trip in New Mexico. He was never found. Through this experience, Kristen has not only learned many trials and tribulations of being a survivor but also how to navigate the emotional pitfalls along the way while learning to be happy again. Her aim is to help and empower others.

Katie Hazen is a dynamic and integral part of The Freebird Foundation. With her drive and motivation, her resilience shines through. Katie's sister, Amy, was carjacked and went missing for three days. After surviving this unimaginable experience, Amy tragically ended her own life one week later due to the physical and mental toll that followed. It is through this experience that Katie understands pain and grief in a way that is lovingly compassionate.

Crista Mooney has always been a hard-working individual with a passion for helping others. This is highlighted by obtaining a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma to further help those in need. In both personal and professional life, Crista maintains a confident approach to advice-giving and has an attentive listening ear. It is through this that Crista remains a source of comfort and a shining light to many.
